Name Variants: Lobzang Dogyu Yeshe Tenpai Gyeltsen
Tubten Jigme Kelzang (stong 'khor 08 thub bstan 'jigs med skal bzang), one of two individuals to hold the title of Eighth Tongkhor, was born in 1812. As an infant he was recognized as the reincarnation of the Seventh Tongkhor, Kelzang Jamyang Gyatso (stong 'khor 07 skal bzang 'jam dbyangs rgya mtsho, 1799-1811), in the Tongkhor line that was based at Tongkhor Ganden Chokhor Ling (stong 'khor dgon dga' ldan chos 'khor gling), which had been established by the Fourth Tongkhor, Dogyu Gyatso (stong 'khor 04 mdo rgyud rgya mtsho, d. 1683), in 1646.
He received an audience with Shingza Paṇḍita Lobzang Dargye Gyatso (shing bza' paNDita blo bzang dar rgyas rgya mtsho, 1752/1759-1824), the forty-fourth throne holder of Labrang, who gave him the name Lobzang Dogyu Yeshe Tenpai Gyeltsen (blo bzang mdo rgyud ye shes bstan pa'i rgyal mtshan).
He died at the age of eight in 1819. His reincarnation was identified in Tubten Jigme Gyatso (stong 'khor 09 thub bstan 'jigs med rgya mtsho, 1820-1882).
