The Treasury of Lives

The Chaktsa incarnations were a Nyingma line based at Getse Tralek Monastery. Beginning with the Second Chaktsa, Kunzang Tenpai Nyinje, the lamas were enthroned at Katok Dorjeden Monastery and resided at their seat monastery of Getse Tralek. The line dates from the middle of the eightenth century in the person of Kunzang Ngedon Wangpo.

Biographies

The First Chaktsa, Kunzang Ngedon Wangpo was identified as the reincarnation of Bangowa Tondru Gyatso. A student of Drime Zhingkyong Chokyi Dorje, he was a master of the two treasure traditions of Katok Monastery: those of Dundul Dorje and Longsel Nyingpo. He was a teacher of the First Getse Paṇchen Gyurme Tsewang Chokdrub and possibly the twenty-ninth abbot of Katok.

The Second Chaktsa Tulku, Kunzang Tenpai Nyinje

b.early 19th cent. - d.mid 19th cent.

The Second Chaktsa Tulku, Kunzang Tenpai Nyinje was enthroned at Katok in 1821. His primary teacher was Getse Paṇchen Gyurme Tsewang Chokdrub. After his training he made his seat at his teacher's monastery of Getse Dralek.

The Third Chaktsa Tulku, Kunzang Jampa Sengge

b.mid 19th cent. - d.late 19th cent.

The Third Chaktsa Tulku, Kunzang Jampa Sengge was enthroned at Katok Monastery but like his predecessor spent a majority of his life at Getse Dralek Monastery.

The Fourth Chaktsa, Kunzang Pema Trinle

b.late 19th cent. - d.mid 20th cent.

The Fourth Chaktsa Tulku, Kunzang Pema Trinle was enthroned at Katok but like his predecessors resided at Getse Dralek Monastery, which he expanded with a monastic college and retreat center.

The Fifth Chaktsa Tulku, Tubten Lodro Chokyi Gyeltsen

The Fifth Chaktsa Tulku, Tubten Lodro Chokyi Gyeltsen was enthroned at Katok and based at Getse Dralek Monastery.
