Gyelwang Tsokye Dorje

Gyelwang Tsokye Dorje (rgyal dbang mtsho skyes rdo rje) was born in 1530. He received the full transmission of the Taklung tradition from the 16th throne holder of Taklung, Kunga Tashi (stag lung khri 16 kun dga' bkra shis, 1536-1599/1605), who had come to Riwoche, and was a teacher to the 17th Taklung throne holder, Jetsun Ngawang Namgyel (stag lung khri 17 rje btsun ngag dbang rnam rgyal, 1571-1626), the author of an important history of Taklung Kagyu, the Chojung Ngotsar Gyatso (chos 'byung ngo mtshar rgya mtsho).

He is considered to have been the first Riwoche Jedrung (ri bo che rje drung).
